About the Place
Sugarfall launched last Saturday as the newest dessert and coffee shop on Byres Road. This cute little cafe serves up a range of coffees, cold drinks, home-made cakes, and sandwiches.
The interior is lovely and modern, nice and bright inside, with 4 two-seat tables and stools looking out onto the street.

The Menu
I can fully understand that a small cafe can't support a large menu, but that doesn't really make up for the complete lack of options at Sugarfall. We visited the place at 12.30pm on a Saturday, peak lunch time. Typically, similar cafes would try to have as much stock out as possible at this time in preparation for the lunch rush, but there were only two sandwiches available. I know the place brands itself as a dessert cafe, but seriously?
Moving on to the desserts - there were around 10 different types of cake and 2 types of yogurt pots. Once again, pretty average variety for a place that advertises as a dessert joint. I went for the dark chocolate cheesecake. Although the variety isn't that great, the quality of the cakes are. I'm an avid cheesecake lover, and that cheesecake was pretty great.
The flat white was good also, but it wasn't what I originally wanted. On the wall in big writing are all the types of hot drinks the place offers. It included the most common types of coffees and hot chocolate, so I figured I could ask for a mocha even though that wasn't an option on the wall. Nope. What kind of coffee shop can't make you a mocha? It's literally coffee with some chocolate in it. Maybe I'm being bitter but I really wanted a mocha. Anyway, the flat white was good enough.
The Cost
I don't really have much to say about the cost. It was bang average for that sort of place, and exactly what you'd expect from a cafe on Byres Road.
My official rating of Sugarfall...
★★☆☆☆
I'd maybe recommend Sugarfall for Glasgow uni students. The place is ideal if you want a quiet place to study and have a coffee. Besides that, I won't insist that you go there. It's alright, but I guarantee there's somewhere similar but better and with more options in that area.
Top tip when visiting: I can't even think of one. I don't really care enough to try. Maybe I'm being harsh on the place, but what can I say? I really wanted that mocha.
Thanks for reading!
